Ronald GordonSMITH'Ron' Suddenly on Saturday 4th July at the Royal Stoke University Hospital, Ron aged 71 years of Cheddleton, former publican of the Black Lion Inn, Butterton and The Mermaid Inn, Thorncliffe. Devoted husband of Vanessa, much loved brother of Derek, a dear son-in-law, brother-in-law and uncle who will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Private funeral. We are so shocked to hear of Ron’s passing. We have very happy memories of our trips to The Mermaid Inn where Ron always gave a warm welcome and shared a joke. He was an absolute gentleman. Sincere condolences to Vanessa and all of Ron’s family.
